                Contract is hearby entered into by __________________________________________ parents,

Beneficiary(ies), (hereinafter referred to as child or Children) and Jefferson Davis Academy in Blackville, Barnwell County, South Carolina, (hereinafter referred to as Academy) for the academic year 2018-2019 beginning on the 1st day of June, 2018, and ending on the 31st day of May, 2019.

               

Jefferson Davis Academy is a private institution, and it is understood by and between the parties hereto that the Academy relies on its tuition contracts to plan for the upcoming year and to meet its obligations during the academic year. Tuition may be paid in monthly installments, but the parent is liable for the entire year’s tuition even if the child withdraws. In consideration of the above, it is agreed as follows:

 

1.           A. To pay tuition based on a 145-day school year for students.

 

B. To pay the sum of Four Thousand Five Hundred sixty Dollars ($4,560.00) at the rate of $380.00 per    month for 12 consecutive months for the first child enrolled.

E. A family of four or more children who attend the academy may attend for the price of three students’ tuition. All registration fees apply for each child, not excluding the fourth (or more) child.

G. Currently enrolled families paying tuition in full on or before the 15th of June, 2018, will be given a five percent (5%) discount. Newly enrolled families paying tuition in full on or before the first day of classes of the 2018-2019 school year will be given a five percent (5%) discount as well.

2.                             All contractual commitments must be kept in good financial standing. Tuition is due on the first (1st) day of each month and is considered past due on the sixteenth (16th) day of each month. A late fee of $100.00 per family will be charged on the sixteenth (16th) day of each month beginning in June, 2018 The Academy reserves the right to dismiss from school any student whose monthly tuition is thirty (30) days in arrears. Any past due tuition not paid by the first day of the following month will result in the child or children being removed from school until past due tuition is paid in full. Additionally, the Academy reserves the right to initiate legal proceedings, at its discretion for collection of tuition in arrears thirty (30) or more days. Further, although the tuition may be paid in monthly installments, the signer id obligated for the entire tuition even if the child withdraws before the end of the school year, unless the signer is released from the contract by the Board of Directors. Academy also reserves the right to seek costs and attorneys fees related to collecting the tuition should legal action become necessary.

 

3.                             Anyone seeking to be released from the contract must submit a letter to the Academy’s Board of Directors, indicating a desire to terminate the contract. The fees associated with terminating the contract as follows and must be paid prior to the Academy agreeing to terminate the contract:

            a.             To terminate the contract before the first day of the 2018-2019 school year a fee of $1,000.00 for the first child, $500.00 for the second child, and $250.00 for the third child for early termination of the contract must be paid to the Academy, along with any past-due tuition and unpaid contractual fees. There will be no early termination fee for the fourth (or more) child; however all unpaid contractual fees must be paid to the Academy for the fourth (or more) child as well, prior to the Academy agreeing to terminate the contract. All fees and tuition paid for each child for the contact year will be forfeited.

                b.             To terminate the contract on or after the first day of the 2018-2019 school year up through December 1, 2018 a fee of $2,000.00 for the first child, $1,500.00 for the second child, and $1,000.00 for the third child for early termination of the contract must be paid to the Academy, along with any past due tuition and unpaid contractual fees. There will be no early termination fee for the fourth (or More) child; however all unpaid contractual fees must be paid to the Academy for the fourth (or more) child as well, prior to the Academy agreeing to terminate the contract. All fees and tuition paid for each child for the contract year will be forfeited.

                c.             To terminate the contract anytime from January 1, 2019 to May 15, 2019 a fee of $750.00 for the first child, $500.00 for the second child, and $250.00 for the third child for early termination of the contract must be paid to the Academy, along with any past due tuition and unpaid contractual fees. There will be no early fee for the fourth (or more) child; however all unpaid contractual fees must be paid to the Academy for the fourth (or more) child as well, prior to the Academy agreeing to terminate the contract. All fees and tuition paid for each child for the contract year will be forfeited.

 

4.                             Additionally, notwithstanding the termination qualifications set forth in clause 3 a-c above, the foregoing contract my be terminated only in event that the residence of the child enrolled herein shall be removed from the area served by the Academy. The service area for the Academy is Barnwell County, Bamberg County, Allendale County, Aiken County, Orangeburg County, Colleton County, and Hampton County.

5.                             In event that a child is absent by reason of illness, expulsion, or suspension, for any reason, the obligation to pay shall continue unless released by the Board of Directors.

6.                             The Academy has the right and prerogative to determine the appropriate class and grade level at which each child should be assigned.

7.                             Regular enrollment for present children/students will taken through May 15, 2018. Any currently enrolled child registering after May 15, 2018, will be charged a $100.00 late registration fee for each child.

8.             Fees:      A non-refundable registration fee for each child is due concurrently with the signed contract. The registration fee may be paid in full or in part in accordance with the following options:

                a. If the registration is paid on or before Friday April 13, 2018, the total fees will be $475.00 per child.

                                -You may pay $475.00 with the signed contract; or

                                - You may pay $175.00 with signed contract, $150.00 on or before May 15, 2018, and the

                                remaining $150.00 on or before Wednesday August 1, 2018 for a total of $475.00.

               

                b. If the registration is paid after Friday April 13, 2018, the total fees will be $525.00 per child:

                               

You may pay $525.00 with the contract.

 

You may pay $275.00 with the signed contract and $250.00 on or before Wednesday August 1, 2018 for a total of $525.00.

All new applicants will be given a standardized aptitude test for admission to the Academy. Any new applicant taking the test will be given a retest should it be necessary. A testing fee of $25.00 will be charged for administration of the test. However, should a retest be necessary, there will be no additional charge.

 

10.          Each Family enrolling a new student in the Academy will be required to have State Immunization Card, Birth Certificate, and a Social Security number for each child. The immunization Card must be secured through your private physician or heath center.

 

11.          There will be a Fund raising Participation Fee of $150.00 assessed to each family for the 2018-2019 school year. This fee is due in full on or before September 17, 2018 (third Monday in September), which is the date of the Annual Family Guardian Meeting to approve the 2018-2019 budget. This fee amount of $150.00, along with a credit of up to $100.00, can be “worked off” and credited back to your May 2019 tuition by meeting the guideline requirements of participation in a combination of the Board of Directors approved fundraisers and assistance in the JDA Booster Club related activities. A full explanation of the Participation Fee and how you receive credits back will be explained on September 17, 2018 at the Annual Family Guardian Meeting. A $10.00 participation credit will be given for your attendance at that meeting.

 

12.          The school hours will be from 7:50 a.m. until 3:05 p.m. Monday-Thursday.

 

13.          I/We, as the person(s) taking responsibility for the family (parents, child/children, sponsor, and/or family guardian) and for this contract, agree not to to make any negative or detrimental comments about the Academy, its administration, faculty, staff, students or parents of students on Facebook, Twitter, ect… or on any other social media platform, electronic media, or in print media. I/we realize that violating the agreement in this clause (number 13) may result in immediate dismissal of my/our child/children from the Academy.

I fully understand the provisions contained in the Jefferson Davis Academy Admissions Policy and agree to abide by the provisions of the Jefferson Davis Student Handbook. I also understand that the policies contained in the handbook are subject to change.

In Jefferson Davis Academy Three and Four year old Kindergarten at Blackville, Barnwell County, South Carolina for the academic year 2018-2019. Admission to Jefferson Davis Academy Kindergarten in no way assures admission to Jefferson Davis Academy grades 1-12.

 

Jefferson Davis Academy is a private institution, and it is understood by and between the parties hereto that the Academy relies on its tuition contracts to plan for the upcoming year and to meet obligations during the academic year. Tuition may be paid in monthly installments, but the parent is libel for the entire tuition amount even if the child withdraws from the Academy. In consideration of the above, it is agreed as follows:

            Parents agree to pay tuition at the rate of One Hundred Thirty dollars ($130.00) per month. It is understood that the tuition is due on the First (1st) day of the month beginning in August 2018, for a total of ten (10) months. The total tuition due for the 2018-2019 school year is ($1,300.00). Tuition is past due on the sixteenth (16th) day of each month, and a late fee will be assessed, as is set forth on page 2, paragraph 2 of this contract.

Jefferson Davis Academy Three and Four Year Old Kindergarten Information

(Ten Month Plan)

 

1.             Fees:    A non-refundable registration fee for each child is due concurrently with the signed contract. The registration fee may be paid in full or in part in accordance with the following options:

            a. If the registration is paid on or before Friday April 13, 2018, the total fees will be $450.00 per child.

                        -You may pay $475.00 with the signed contract; or

                        - You may pay $150.00 with signed contract, $150.00 on or before May 15, 2018, and the

                        remaining $150.00 on or before Wednesday August 1, 2018 for a total of $450.00.

           

            b. If the registration is paid after Friday April 13, 2018, the total fees will be $500.00 per child:

                       

You may pay $500.00 with the contract.

 

You may pay $250.00 with the signed contract and $250.00 on or before Wednesday August 1, 2018 for a total of $500.00.

 

c. If your child was pre-registered for the K3-K4 class for the 2018-2019 school year, and you paid a $50.00 non-refundable pre-registration fee, then the $50.00 will be credited to the amount owed. This $50.00 credit will be deducted from your first registration fee installment, or from the full amount of $450.00, if you are paying the entire registration fee in one lump sum. This clause applies only to those who pre-registered.

A late fee of $50.00 will be charged on the sixteenth (16th) of the month beginning in August for any past due amount. The Academy reserves the right to dismiss from school any student whose monthly tuition is thirty (30) days in arrears. In consideration of the above, it is agreed as follows:

            Parent agrees to pay tuition at the rate of Two Hundred fifty five Dollars ($255.00) per month. It is understood that the tuition is due on the first day of the month beginning August 1, 2018, for a total of (10) months. The total tuition for the 2018-2019 school year is Two thousand five hundred fifty Dollars ($2,550.00). Tuition is past due on the sixteenth day of each month, and a late fee will be assessed, as is set forth on page 2, paragraph 2 of the contract.

            Parent also agrees to pay a non-refundable registration fee as set forth on page 2, paragraph 1 of this contract.
